Surgery and how I am updates
So, when's the operation?
I saw Dr. Andrew Campbell, the surgeon who's going to be operating on me for the second time in my life, back in December. The long and the short of that appointment is that I've chosen to undergo surgery sooner rather than later, knowing all the risks and that doing surgery now vs waiting another year or more means my next surgery after this one will be sooner as well. In terms of actual dates, we're looking at early March, which I'm going to request is going to actually be mid-March, as there is no way I'm missing Vancoufur. I'm planning on running a writing panel there as well as performing in the variety show yet again. I also want to use Vancoufur as time to see my friends again right before surgery and let them know in-person, when I can, about when my surgery is. I'll get told about a month in advance when my surgery date is going to be, so February sometime. I've sent Dr. Campbell's assistant an email requesting mid-March, but we'll see how that goes. She isn't able to give me an update as of yet as she doesn't even know what day he's operating in March.
Okay, and how are you doing?
I'm doing alright. By the time this posts, I'll have worked a lot during the holidays as I'm fairly certain I was the only one who didn't request time off during said holidays. By working a lot, I mean working full-time hours for two weeks after only working at most two days a week for the past three months. I've noticed it's harder to breathe when lying on my back, which makes finding sleep difficult, though with me having mild sleep apnea, I'm not supposed to sleep flat on my back anyways. I'm struggling a bit at work, which is why I've asked to cut down to one day a week after the holidays. Hopefully, that'll help with my fatigue levels. I'm sleeping like a cat, practically 14-16 hours a day on my days off. I don't know how they were seriously expecting me to wait longer for surgery as I'm supposedly asymptomatic, but my body's energy levels tell me I'm very much symptomatic. I'm lucky that at this point I can manage stairs, walking, echetera echetera echetera (I'm fully aware of how this is meant to be spelled but please picture the King from The King and I). I get tired after walking my regular pace for half a block, which means I need to factor in extra time when walking to the train station or bus stop whenever I leave the house. I'm also not able to supplement with caffeine as much as I’ve wanted. Honestly though, that's meant I've cut back on it, but not eliminated it entirely. I finally found the right amount where I can focus at work a bit better, but not constantly feel like fainting.
Signing off,
